Meghan McCain Joins Premiere Networks as Host of America Now
LOS ANGELES, July 15, 2015 – Premiere Networks announced today that national media personality, New York Times best-selling author and political columnist Meghan McCain has joined the network as host of America Now. Beginning July 20, 2015, McCain will debut on the popular News/Talk program, which broadcasts live on weekdays from 3 - 6 p.m. PT/6 - 9 p.m. ET on more than 100 affiliates nationwide. Based in Los Angeles, the program is also available on iHeartRadio.com and the iHeartRadio mobile app, iHeartMedia's free all-in-one streaming music and live radio service, and AmericaNowRadio.com.
Each day on America Now, McCain will discuss the news, information and events that matter most to the daily lives of Americans, from a millennial point of view. From business and politics, to entertainment and social issues, America Now will welcome a variety of guests and experts, and feature McCain’s candid, passionate take on the latest local, national and global headlines.
“I can’t wait to engage listeners across the country as we shine a spotlight on the stories and issues that affect us all,” stated McCain. “Creating a dialogue to inform, inspire and entertain people is what’s always driven me, and hosting America Now is an exciting opportunity to help drive the national conversation. I’m excited to be joining a network with such an amazing lineup of hosts.”
“Meghan is smart, enthusiastic and outspoken, and we’re excited to have her join our roster of industry-leading programs reaching diverse audiences across America,” stated Premiere Networks President Julie Talbott. “As talk radio continues to connect with and engage millions of people across multiple platforms, we’re confident Meghan’s unique perspective and experience in politics will resonate with America Now’s national audience and create powerful marketing opportunities for our partners.”
As the daughter of U.S. Senator John McCain, Meghan McCain was propelled into the national spotlight at an early age. While working on her father’s 2008 presidential campaign, she launched a blog, which gained a wide readership almost immediately and received two distinguished awards in politics: The Golden Dot Award for Best Blog and two Pollie Awards from the Association of Political and Public Affairs Professionals. The success of the blog thrust her onto the national media scene as a columnist for The Daily Beast and an MSNBC contributor.
A powerful role model for young women and Republicans alike, McCain has passionately discussed news and events, women’s issues, and social issues across a variety of media. In 2013, she launched her genre-¬busting docu-¬talk series “Raising McCain” on Pivot. The series followed the outspoken McCain on the road talking to unexpected experts and everyday people and exploring a range of topics. McCain then co-hosted Pivot’s late-night news program TakePart Live. Inspired by her time on the campaign trail, McCain authored the New York Times best-seller Dirty Sexy Politics: A True Story in 2010. She then went on to write a children’s book inspired by her father’s presidential run. McCain’s last book, America, You Sexy Bitch: A Love Letter to Freedom, recounts the cross-country road trip that she and the left-wing comedian Michael Ian Black took together in 2011. In addition, McCain serves on the National Board of Directors for GLAAD, and recently hosted the organization's Concert for Love and Acceptance in Nashville.
