The Bobby Bones Show Helps Build Home for Wounded Air Force Captain in Miramar Beach

LOS ANGELES, March 15, 2017 – This week, listeners of iHeartMedia’s The Bobby Bones Show joined efforts to honor wounded United States Air Force Captain Nathan Nelson, who was paralyzed from the chest down during his third tour in Afghanistan and in need of a home to accommodate his needs.  After sharing his story on air, Bones and his on-air crew announced they would donate proceeds from the sale of camouflage #PimpinJoy T-shirts on TheShopForward.com.  In just a few days, listeners of The Bobby Bones Show purchased enough T-shirts to raise $100,000, doubling the original goal of $50,000.

Thanks to Building Homes for Heroes, a new ADA certified custom home will be built for Captain Nelson, his wife Jennifer and three-year-old daughter Eva, in Miramar Beach, Fla.  With the extra money raised, The Bobby Bones Show will also send Captain Nelson and his family on an all-expense-paid trip to Disney World.

“Our listeners have shown us again just how big their hearts are,” shared Bones.  “It’s always amazing to see them in action when we put a great cause in front of them, and it’s our honor to help a true American hero. We had a goal of $50,000. Thanks to our listeners we doubled that and are able to do even more for this family than we could’ve imagined.”

Since 2014, the sale of #PimpinJoy apparel has raised more than $1 million to support many worthy causes, including nationwide disaster relief efforts of The American Red Cross, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Orlando shooting victims and their families. About #PimpinJoy
#PimpinJoy is a movement created by The Bobby Bones Show to celebrate people who may be going through a rough time, but choose to spread joy in their daily lives. It was first launched to honor co-host Amy and her mother Judy, who has been battling Cancer for two years.  Throughout their struggle, both women made a conscious effort to not let hardship or difficulty cause them to lose hope or positivity in their lives - instead, they choose to be happy, pass on joy, and influence others to do the same.  Growing rapidly and garnering national attention, the movement spurred the launch of a #PimpinJoy clothing line, which supports various charities, and an annual week-long celebration known as Joy Week. Luke Bryan, Garth Brooks, Jake Owen, Keith Urban, Darius Rucker and Sam Hunt are just a few of the major country stars who have participated in Joy Week by performing live on the show.
